Walter De Maria is one of my favorite artists. He passed at the age of 77 yesterday. His works were astounding and fine examples of minimal yet monumental art installations. Two of those are pictured below (The Broken Kilometer and the Earth Room).
There’s something about warmer weather that makes me want to toss aside anything cumbersome. But, alas, I’m still a 9 to 5 kind of gal and need to carry all sorts of oddities around. Hence, my newest obsession. Sturdy cotton canvas bags from WANT Les Essentials De La Vie.
These bags first entered my world when I bought the O’Hare bag in black. It fits everything and doesn’t break your back. Then I went for round two with a khaki smaller bag called the Orly bag (found at one of my favorite stores Maison Kitsune). Understated, simple and did I mention LIGHT?
When I stumbled across this brand Everlane I was thrilled. Great basics, everything from scoop necks, to cashmere sweaters and silk button downs. Based in California (my birth state!) and currently only selling online, their clean clear-cut website could not get better! Finally, quality basics at prices that make sense.
